மணற்கேணி • a source, even in the driest ground

Robotics & IoT learning, built from the ground up

Manarkeni Research Workshops brings hands-on robotics and IoT education to rural and sub-urban school students — helping them access real technology, not just read about it.

Why Choose Us

Learning by building, not just watching

Students don't just learn concepts — they build, experiment, troubleshoot, and demonstrate real projects.

Hands-on learning

Team-based projects

Age-appropriate curriculum

Practical electronics & programming

Real-world applications

Certificate of participation

Classes 6–9 Class 11

IoT & Smart Systems IoT & ஸ்மார்ட் அமைப்புகள்

Introduction to sensors, microcontrollers, wireless communication, automation, and smart devices.

Classes 6–9 Class 11
What Students Will Learn

A working vocabulary in real technology

Basic Electronics
Sensors & Actuators
Microcontrollers
Programming Fundamentals
Robotics
Automation
IoT Concepts
Problem Solving
Teamwork
Engineering Thinking
How It Works

From first spark to demonstration

01

Learn

Students are introduced to the basic concepts through simple demonstrations and activities.

02

Experiment

Students work with electronic components, sensors, motors, and microcontrollers.

03

Build

Students work in small teams to develop a functional project.

04

Test

Teams troubleshoot, improve, and test their projects.

05

Demonstrate

Students present and demonstrate what they built.

Team-Based Learning

Small teams, real collaboration

4–5

members per team

Each team receives the required components and works together to complete their project — no one builds alone.

This encourages

  • Collaboration
  • Communication
  • Problem solving
  • Leadership
  • Practical thinking

OBSTACLE AVOIDING ROBOT

Ultrasonic sensors, motor control, and autonomous decision making.

Materials & Description

  • Arduino Uno / Nano
  • HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor
  • L298N motor driver
  • 2x DC motors & wheels
  • Battery pack, chassis

Students assemble a robot that detects obstacles and changes direction autonomously using distance measurement and simple programming logic.

LINE FOLLOWING ROBOT

IR sensors, motor control, and programming logic.

Materials & Description

  • Arduino board
  • 2-5 IR sensor array
  • Motor driver (L298N or TB6612)
  • 2x BO motors
  • Chassis, wheels, battery

A robot that follows a black line on a white surface. Students calibrate IR sensors and implement simple PID or on/off control.

SMART LIGHTING SYSTEM

Sensors, automation, and energy-efficient control.

Materials & Description

  • ESP8266/ESP32 or Arduino
  • LDR or PIR sensor
  • Relay module
  • LED or bulb
  • Jumper wires, breadboard

Build an automatic lighting system that turns on/off based on ambient light or motion detection. Introduction to smart home concepts.

IoT ENVIRONMENT MONITOR

Sensors that collect data and transmit it using wireless communication.

Materials & Description

  • ESP8266/ESP32
  • DHT11/DHT22 temperature & humidity
  • Breadboard, wires
  • Cloud dashboard or local display

Collect environmental data and send it to a cloud platform (like ThingSpeak) or display locally. Students learn about IoT protocols.

SMART HOME AUTOMATION

Electronic devices monitored and controlled automatically.

Materials & Description

  • ESP32/ESP8266
  • Relay modules
  • Temperature sensor, motion sensor
  • Fan or bulb, wiring

Control home appliances remotely or automatically based on sensor inputs. Introduces students to smart device integration.

About Us

A wellspring in unlikely ground

Manarkeni Research Workshops (மணற்கேணி ஆய்வு பட்டறை) is a technology education initiative focused on introducing school students — especially in rural and sub-urban areas — to robotics, electronics, programming, and IoT through hands-on learning. Just as a manarkeni finds water where none seems possible, our aim is to make technology education practical, engaging, and accessible wherever a student happens to study.

Our Approach

Understanding comes from building it yourself

Instead of limiting learning to lectures, our programs combine:

CONCEPTS
+
EXPERIMENTS
+
TEAMWORK
+
PROJECTS
Certification

Recognition for showing up and building

Students who successfully participate in the program will receive a Certificate of Participation.
